Heidi is committed to supporting individuals understand and cope with the stressors that affect them. She believes that therapy is a collaborative endeavour that involves caring without judgment. As a therapist, she is warm, open, understanding, encouraging and direct. She readily combines her lived experience, education, creativity, sense of humour and calm demeanour with a practical and down to earth approach to counselling.
Heidi is a Registered Social Worker and a member in good standing with the Alberta College of Social Workers. Her undergraduate degree is in Psychology and she has completed a graduate degree in Social Work with a clinical specialization from the University of Calgary. The Alberta College of Social Workers has provided Heidi authorization to perform psychosocial interventions based on her knowledge, experience and expertise. Her experience comes from a variety of settings: not for profit organizations, collaboration with government agencies, community support services, and private practice.
Community Membership
Heidi volunteers her time in the community. As a senior student at Westmount Karate and Kobudo Club, she assists in the instruction of karate to both adults and children. As well, Heidi volunteers her time as a board member with WINGS of Providence, a second stage shelter and affordable housing in Edmonton committed to breaking the cycle of violence against women.
